About Anu Peter Brandt, Soul Unique founder
So who am I? And why should you read my blog and check out this site? Well, I’m not saying you should, but I’m certainly hoping you’ll give it a go. It is my passionate intention that you will get something valuable out of it to help you on your own unfolding journey. That is my greatest hope.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been on my own quiet path of spiritual-multidimensional* exploration, discovery, and self-realization.
Is there more to existence than what we can perceive with our physical senses?
Even as a child as young as five years old, I clearly remember pondering the great questions of life, and having conversations with what I perceived to be a higher being, outside of the realm of the physically-focused world. I was particularly interested in the great questions about existence…
Who am I? Why am I here? Where was I before I was born? Where do I go after my death?
And, as many children do, I was frequently having dreams of flying and transcending the physical world which, I’ve learned since, means that I was most likely having out-of-body experiences. Whatever they were, these essentially mystical experiences fostered the continuing feeling of an undeniable sense that the truth of existence is much broader than what we can perceive with our physically-focused senses, and that a strong and consistent connection with that broader essence was always present, always accessible. My parents took me to church on a fairly regular basis throughout my childhood years, but I often sensed a disparity between what I was being taught in church and what I was experiencing and perceiving on my own.
Not all who wander are lost
These compelling childhood inquiries and experiences set me on a life path of searching for answers and understanding that, even when relegated to the background among life’s pressing and varied pursuits in the outer world, had a profound effect on how my life unfolded. In the “outer world,” much of my life has been focused in the arts – the visual arts as a graphic designer and creative director, and the performing arts as a singer, actor, voiceover artist, director, and teacher (in the performing arts, I have been known by my stage name, “Pierce” Peter Brandt).
These varied career pursuits have taken me all over North America and, in some cases, to international destinations. And, while this occasionally perplexing career path had its many twists and turns, great successes and challenges, it has served me well and provided me with the ideal opportunities for exploration, self-knowledge, learning, and inspiration.
There is no end to enlightenment
Considering that I essentially started my conscious spiritual-multidimensional* explorations around age five, I have now been on this path for just under five decades. I started meditating in my early twenties and started studying spiritually-oriented texts in my teens.
This path has led me to study with great spiritual teachers, shamans, and guides, and to study the teachings of masters and abiding texts.
Along the way, I’ve had many deeply profound, life-changing mystical experiences that have transformed my perception of reality and have given me great insights into the mysteries of life, of my true self, and of the cosmos itself.
Some might call these a series of “awakenings” and/or “enlightenments.” I would say that yes, relative to who I once was and how I previously interacted with the world around me, I am certainly more awakened and enlightened than I was and have been. However, “enlightenment” is a rather hackneyed concept these days with many misperceptions floating around. True enlightenment is not a single destination where once you arrive you’re finished and complete. Rather, it’s a never-ending journey of unfolding and evolution.
Finding inner peace and true healing
Significant portions of my life were often filled with depression and not knowing which way to turn or where to find the appropriate guidance. In fact, my depression and fruitless search for meaning and direction, at one point on my path, manifested physically for me in the diagnosis of a rare and likely fatal disease. Within a year of that diagnosis, I altered the course of my life from a life filled with stress and depression to a life focused on fostering inner healing and diving more deeply than ever into my spiritual-multidimensional* explorations. Astoundingly, at the end of that year, the initial diagnosis was reversed. The doctors couldn’t understand it other than to try to come up with the explanation that what they previously thought were tumors in my x-rays were now just shadows.
From where I stand now, I can clearly see that the ups and downs of my meandering and often confusing path did, indeed, have a purpose. That rather tumultuous path, combined with my tireless spiritual-multidimensional* explorations, have brought me to the realization of an inner peace and quiet contentedness with my self and with life that I know will only continue to grow and will always be a part of me. It cannot be taken away because it comes from within.
And through all of this unfolding journey, my realizations and insights have called on me to be of service to the world in whatever way I can. And so, to begin with, in addition to offering Anu-KA Reiki Transformation Work to souls near and far, it is my intent here in this first incarnation of the Soul Unique website, to share my experiences, inspirations, and illuminations so that I might assist and inspire others to have their own experiences of the same.
Where does the name “Anu” come from?
I am often asked about my name “Anu.” I don’t mind the inquiry, so I’ll take a moment here to address it, fully acknowledging that I, too, have had my own curiosities, on occasion, about people who have taken on what might be called a “spiritual name.” Fully embracing this beautiful name has taken me a long time, and sharing it with others has been a significant step for me.
Before I had ever shared it with anyone other than one or two of my closest friends, this name was repeatedly told to me over a period of more than two-and-a-half years in the form of whispers and visions during deep, altered states of consciousness in my meditations and in sacred shamanic ceremonies. In those powerful experiences (for which I am truly grateful), without my asking or prompting, “Anu” has been presented to me as the name I have held as a soul or spirit long before I was ever embodied in human form with my given name in this life, “Peter.”
Interestingly, for as long as I can remember, even as a child, I never felt fully at one with the name “Peter,” and I’ve long had a distinct, unexplained affinity for names that started with the letter ‘A.’ So, when “Anu” has been given to me on numerous memorable occasions, it mysteriously has always resonated very deeply within me; it feels like home.
Most people still call me “Peter,” and many of the people that I know through my work in the performing arts still call me “Pierce,” and that’s all fine with me. At times, I’ll admit I have been somewhat perplexed by this conglomeration of names (and perhaps others have been, too!), but I have since grown to embrace it simply as part of my path. I’m not trying to deceive anyone with this array of names; on the contrary. It is my intent to represent myself as genuinely, authentically, and transparently as possible. I enjoy sharing the name “Anu” as a deeply embedded part of my soul.
If someone tells you they have it all figured out, run the other way!
I don’t consider myself to be any kind of guru or enlightened master, and by no means do I have all the answers. I don’t have it all figured out, and I’m certainly not perfect; I like to say I am, as we all are, perfectly imperfect.
Based on my experience, I would recommend that if anyone ever comes across someone who says they have it all figured out, don’t just walk, run the other way! Every being on the planet is in some stage of their own ongoing process of evolution (or “awakening,” “enlightenment,” or whatever you want to call it); even those who might truly be called “enlightened masters” do not have it all figured out.
Even if it were possible for someone to have it all figured out, that person would only have it figured out from within their own personal window of perspective, not from yours or mine or anyone else’s. It’s not possible for anyone’s truth to supersede your own.
The only true teacher is within you
Ultimately, the only true spiritual-multidimensional* teacher is inside each of us. Each of us, in alignment with our “higher self,” is our own best teacher in all things, especially in the unfolding of our very personal path to spiritual-multidimensional realization.
While I’m honored and overjoyed to be of service and to teach what I can and share what I am inspired to share, my primary intention is to be a facilitator and guide, and any teachings I might offer are shared within that framework.
My goal is to assist you in navigating your journey of self-realization and transformation, and in uncovering the truths of existence as they appear from your own, very valuable perspective.
It’s my great honor to share this with you. Thank you for being here.
Spiritual = Multidimensional
*To avoid any confusion, I’d like to clarify my use of the term “spiritual,” a term that has many different interpretations. Most importantly, my use of this term has nothing to do with any kind of organized religion or sect of religious beliefs. While many religious people may consider themselves to be “spiritual,” being “spiritual” does not necessarily mean that someone is religious or involved with any kind of organized religion. “Spiritual” simply means “of or pertaining to spirit.” And what is spirit? It’s the essence of consciousness, presence, and existence beyond the physical world, and that points us to the term multidimensional, which is the term I sometimes prefer to use instead of “spiritual.” The term “multidimensional” addresses the very real truth that we are multidimensional beings existing in an organic, living, multidimensional universe. There is more to us, and to everything, than meets the eye (or any of our other physically-oriented senses). So, in my writings, I occasionally use the term multidimensional in place of spiritual. But, to avoid any confusion, I also use the term spiritual here and there. So, now you know what I’m referring to when either term appears.
